The London Interdisciplinary School seeks an Editorial Assistant for the journal Interdisciplinary Science Reviews (ISR).
Interdisciplinary Science Reviews is an academic journal published by Sage on behalf of the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3) in London, but its content is overseen by a team of editors appointed by IOM3. The journal was founded in 1976 and publishes peer-reviewed articles and thematic issues on aspects of interdisciplinarity. Following a recent takeover by Sage Publishing, a new team will take on the editorship of the journal from the start of 2025.
We are currently looking for an Assistant to the newly appointed Editor-in-Chief.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Dealing with enquiries to the journal;
2. Managing the inbox;
3. Responding to enquiries;
4. Logging submissions;
5. Maintaining the accuracy of database information through ScholarOne;
6. Administrative processing of submissions to the journal;
7. Distributing new submissions to the editors for review;
8. Managing ongoing correspondence between the editors, special-issue editors, authors, and reviewers;
9. Tracking submissions, resubmissions, proofs, and corrections through ScholarOne;
10. Helping to organise, attend, and take minutes at editorial meetings;
11. Liaising with Sage Publishing and IOM3 concerning all production matters;
12. Contributing to content production for marketing purposes on social media.
Location: While most of the work will be done remotely, the post is based in London, and the post holder will be required to meet with the Editor-in-Chief and Board members regularly online and sometimes in person, as needed.
Start date: January 2025. Permanent contract, with a four-week notice period on both sides.

The work would suit a postgraduate student, who might hold the position while working towards a PhD, or a recent postdoc.
The salary will be paid in the form of an annual lump sum of £3,500 based on the following expectations:
Hours: 4 - 6 hours per week
Salary: £15 - £20 per hour depending on experience.
