Job Title: Engineering Chargehand
Shift: 4on 4off Nights, 18:00-06:00
Location: Cranswick Country Foods, Riverside, William Wright Dock, Hull, HU1 2ET

We are on the lookout for Engineering Chargehands to become an integral part of our team!
You will be responsible for the Engineering team in order to provide a responsive, professional, and quality-aware engineering maintenance service. Ensure maximum operational effectiveness from equipment and facilities.
Main duties include (but are not limited to):
1. Manage the planned preventative maintenance systems and culture for all areas, including PPM schedules for all plant and equipment, management of data regarding machine breakdowns, fault analysis, and update of PPM procedures.
2. Ensure that operational efficiencies and effectiveness are continuously improved, leading to reduced operating costs.
3. Develop, maintain, and enhance quality, health and safety, and environmental standards to ensure compliance by contractors and staff.
4. Lead, coach, and develop staff to ensure capability to deliver current and future business objectives.
5. Maintain and develop the building, environment, and plant, including heating, ventilation, fire protection equipment, and plumbing systems to ensure a safe working environment.
6. Ensure equipment operates at a standard to achieve the customer’s required product specification.
7. Provide technical input to assist in the delivery of projects and initiatives that will impact the profitability of the business.
8. Control the activities of contract labour and inspect the quality of their work.
9. Supervise engineering staff’s activities during production morning start-up.
10. Plan weekend maintenance and ensure spare parts are available in advance.
11. Work with technical on all audit work.
12. Control and organize building fabric maintenance repair work.
13. Play an active role in the site’s Health and Safety committee.
14. Work closely with the Health & Safety officer on issues of machine guarding and safety.
15. Collaborate with the line manager on the recruitment and selection of staff.
16. Provide support to the line manager on projects, NPD work, customer lead work, budget control, and department strategic issues.
17. Carry out activities with full awareness of their impact on the environment, in terms of people and the local area.
18. Objectively assess the team’s performance.
19. Ensure clarity of role for team members, including task assignments, coaching, and providing feedback.
20. Assume responsibility for the management of activities that ensure food safety, integrity, legality, and quality.
You will have:
* Previous experience in FMCG manufacturing (preferably food-related).
* A proven track record of managing teams.
* Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and techniques.
* Computer skills (Microsoft Office), ideally with knowledge of FOPS, Innova & Traksys systems.
* The ability to interact with high-profile customers.
