Notes for applicants Discovery Credit Union Ltd Job Description Job Title: Member Services Officer Accountable to: General Manager Salary: up to £25,016 per annum plus 5% pension contribution (pro rata for job share) Hours of Work : 37 hours per week. Job share will be considered, on basis of an 18-hour week, over a minimum of 3 days per week. For business reasons we may stipulate the working days and require some flexibility. Contract Type : Permanent Location: Discovery Credit Union Main Office, Central Library, Wellgate Centre, Dundee, DD1 1DB. and to visit Community Centres across Angus, Dundee and NorthEast Fife. Job Purpose: The focus will be to concentrate on raising the profile and promoting the services of the Credit Union amongst local employers, communities, and members, whilst assisting with member services. To be responsible for improving the visibility of the Credit Union across the Common Bond, develop relationships with Employer Partners and like-minded Community Organisations. Assist with Member Services which includes the assessment of loan applications according to Credit Union’s lending policy and to provide support to members enquiries. Principal Working Contacts: Discovery Credit Union General Manager Discovery Credit Union Board Members Discovery Credit Union Volunteers Main Duties: To develop and promote the credit union throughout the common bond area. Assist Management with the recruitment of new employer partners for payroll savings. Assist Management with the recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers across the Common Bond. Promote membership of the Credit Union through outreach activity. Handle loan enquiries or requests for quotations by phone, e-mail or face to face at DCU office or at community-based venues Assess personal loan applications making prudent and responsible decisions up to the value set by your level of authority based on the DCU Loan Policy Where needed ensure members are asked to provide further documents to support their loan application such as their bank statements, most recent payslips, benefit award letters. Carry out credit checks and affordability assessments and other underwriting activities. Communicate decisions to members and prepare the loan paperwork. Ensure member loan repayments are up to date, instigating credit control procedures according to current policy and practice. Ensure member's personal business is carried out in a confidential and courteous manner. Provide teller cover on the front counter in times of need. Job Specific Requirements There is an expectation that short listed candidates will meet the requirements below. Knowledge, Experience and Skills Essential Experience in making loan decisions. Understanding of what makes a quality loan decision. Experience of credit control Understanding of the importance of financial procedures, documentation, and administration Knowledge of financial services products. Experienced and confident in using a range of IT tools effectively including financial and administration software, MS Office 365 and communications. Desirable A general understanding of the credit union ethos and their role in delivering financial services. Knowledge of financial exclusion Experience in marketing and promotions Experience of working with and/or training volunteers. Ability to create creative copy and liaise with DCU marketing external resources, Experience of marketing and public engagements, able to articulate comfortably to a variety of different persona. Customer Care Must have strong commitment to customer care. Able to build rapport with current and future partners.
