Job overview
We have an exciting opportunity to work as part of Wakefield Growing Healthy 0-19 Service in a newly developed role as an Oral Health Co-Ordinator working both with internal colleagues and across the Wakefield Partnership. The role is also aligned to Leeds University supporting their research and development to improve outcomes for children.
The Oral Health Co-Ordinator will lead in the HABIT (Health Visiting delivering Advice in Britain on Infant Toothbrushing) training, supervision and support of the 0-19 Service and wider partnership with regards to implementation of the HABIT programme, and structured, effective oral health conversations with children and parents. The overall aim being the improvement of oral health outcomes for babies and young children. There will be a requirement to contribute to data collection, evaluation and ongoing development to meet agreed standards, objectives and statutory requirements.
Main duties of the job
* Plan, manage, and deliver the HABIT oral health module across the Wakefield 0-19 Service and partners, to ensure all staff are trained.
* Undertake quality assurance of the HABIT programme including participating in the evaluation by monitoring programme targets, maintaining accurate databases and obtaining feedback from staff and clients to ensure the HABIT programme is delivered with quality.
* Support the ongoing development/revisions of the HABIT oral health programme to ensure it is fit for purpose. This includes supporting the development of programme materials and resources.
* Provide advice, support and supervision to colleagues delivering the HABIT programme to ensure they feel confident to deliver.
* Ensure HABIT resources are available to deliver the programme.
* Support the delivery of the HABIT programme to families across the Wakefield partnership to ensure the reach of the HABIT programme is as wide as possible.
* Support the ongoing strong links between the 0-19 Service, the Oral Health Advisory Group and Community Dentistry.
* Work in partnership across the Wakefield District to promote the HABIT programme and improve oral health outcomes.
