Position Summary
Nestlé Product Technology Centre - Confectionery (NPTC) are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Operations Senior technician to join the team at our York Research and Development Centre. As a Senior Pilot Plant Technician, you will be a key team member working in our state of the art experimental pilot plant and logistics team and occasionally on other Nestlé sites both in the UK and abroad.
A day in the life of a Site Operations Senior Technician
As a Site Operations Senior Technician, you will be a key team member in our state-of-the-art experimental pilot plant and occasionally on other Nestlé sites both in the UK and abroad.
Developing great working relationships and working with a range of stakeholders you be responsible for:
1. Planning, execution, and follow-up of operational tasks in R&D.
2. Working closely with specialists, project managers, and experts on planning, carrying out, and following up on trials/tests in relation to innovation and renovation of products/processes/systems following relevant tools and programs.
3. Building operational knowledge within your own field, contribute to the knowledge building and sharing in R&D, and participate in technical assistance and manufacturing support.
4. Coach and train less experienced colleagues.
5. Ensure a safe workplace through reviewing and preparing risk assessments, standard operating procedures and ensuring quality standards are always followed.
6. As End-to-End trial lead you will assist project leaders in designing and conducting pilot plant and factory trials, which will involve the preparation and provision of raw materials and equipment, ensuring the trials are carried out safely, providing troubleshooting assistance when needed and ensuring the trial outputs are delivered to the relevant stakeholders/locations.
7. Manage compliance documentation related to your area of responsibility and to take part in LEAN and structured problem-solving initiatives.
8. Play a supporting role to continually develop knowledge enhancements in this space across a wide range of stakeholders, developing capability and driving best in class.
What will make you successful?
To be successful in this role you will be passionate, proactive and results focused acting as an ambassador for the Nestlé Confectionery brands. Being able to demonstrate your ability to influence across all levels is key, as is knowing when to flex your style whilst working in an environment that can be, at times, ambiguous.
You may have production experience, R&D experience or a recent graduate looking for your next steps outside of university.
You will also have:
1. Significant and in-depth practical experience within their areas of specialism e.g. factory experience, being part of operational teams.
2. Experience of End-to-End management of trials/tests.
3. Up to date knowledge of quality, safety and hygiene and environment requirements.
4. Proven experience of R&D and/or operating/factory experience in the product category.
5. Significant exposure in different project and support activities of the organisation.
6. Led initiatives within projects successfully.
7. Demonstrated continuous initiative and continuous improvement.
