About the role: Maintain valid NMC registration as a Registered Nurse. Provide residents with comfort, security, and a sense of belonging, improving their daily lives. Offer professional nursing leadership, ensuring high nursing standards and delegating care as per NMC Code. Assess, monitor, and evaluate individual care needs in partnership with residents, promoting wellbeing and safety. Ensure the principles of the Mental Capacity Act (2005) are applied for residents who lack capacity. Participate in tailored activities to enhance wellbeing, independence, and social engagement. Maintain clear, accurate care records, including care plans and assessments. Manage medication administration and recording safely and appropriately. Collaborate with catering, housekeeping, and other departments to ensure holistic care. Work with the Deputy Manager to review incidents, accidents, and near misses. Maintain communication with families, GPs, and other professionals for continuity of care. Drive continuous improvement in care quality and clinical excellence. Stay updated with relevant research and evidence-based practices. Ensure health and safety, completing reports and root cause analysis of incidents. Duties and Responsibilities: Take responsibility for the care of residents with nursing needs, delegating appropriately to care workers and senior staff. Conduct assessments of potential residents and work with them, their families, and advocates to ensure care meets physical, psychological, spiritual, and social needs. Manage care home operations in the absence of senior management, ensuring safe practices and high-quality care. Ensure staff compliance with Cullum Welch Court policies, promoting a compassionate, safe environment. Foster open communication within the care team, supporting a culture of mutual respect and person-centred care. Ensure residents' wellbeing by being visible, engaging in personal care, and monitoring changes in condition, reporting promptly to appropriate professionals. Educate staff on supporting dementia care, promoting independence, and managing behavioural and psychological issues. Maintain communication with families, GPs, and other professionals for continuity of care. Review and analyse incidents, accidents, and near misses with the Deputy Manager, ensuring corrective actions and lessons learned. Oversee health and safety, ensuring all reports and root cause analyses are completed. Manage medication administration safely, including controlled drugs and oxygen, following policies. Collaborate with the Deputy Manager to improve care quality and maintain high standards. Complete medication competency assessments for Care Leaders and Senior Care Workers. Monitor and support specific residents' care needs and preferences for person-centred care. Participate in activities and support daily tasks like meal preparation and cleaning. Complete mandatory training to stay current on legislation and best practices. About you: Skills, Qualifications and Experience - Registered with NMC as RN1: Adult nurse, level 1 or RNA: Adult nurse, level 1 - Bachelor's degree in nursing or health related subject or equivalent experience - Postgraduate Certificate in Palliative Care - Minimum 24 months post registration experience in a hospital or community setting - Teaching and mentoring qualification or equivalent experience - Minimum of 12 months experience as medication management/competency assessor able to supervise, train and assess the competency of others in medication management and administration. - Able to evidence completion of continuing professional development, with a focus on evidence based practice. - IT literacy specifically Microsoft packages and EMIS.
