An opportunity has become available for a home based Operations Technician to undertake maintenance on cryogenic liquid and gaseous pressure systems on local customer premises. The successful candidate will join a team of skilled engineers in maintaining the safe and reliable operation of equipment within the Gloucester area.
The Role:
Responsible for supporting the maintenance programme, compliance inspections, breakdowns and small system installations to ensure continuous reliable and efficient operation.
Responsibilities:
1. To install industrial and medical, cryogenic, non-cryogenic gas storage and distribution systems.
2. Carry out planned maintenance on plant equipment in line with scheduled work orders.
3. Completion of necessary installation documentation including details of work and costs to the Project Support Office, visit reports, handover and customer training.
4. Act as the competent person for company and customer owned equipment.
5. Advise customers on Pressure Safety System Regulations.
6. To identify, carryout and manage as necessary any remedial works, including plant replacement.
7. Participate in the development of maintenance strategies and documentation in conjunction with project and technical engineers for new applications and supply scheme equipment.
8. To participate in the out of hours emergency call service rota as required to ensure continuous out of hours call service can be provided and demonstrate flexibility by covering other activities and or areas in cases of absence and/or business needs.
9. Comply with all company policies, processes and SHEQ requirements.
10. Display a pro-active approach to engineering solutions, to improve process efficiencies, customer experience and/or reduce maintenance costs.
11. Deliver against assigned KPIs.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
1. City & Guilds or Apprenticeship qualified (Electrical, Mechanical or Instrumentation).
2. A knowledge of pressure systems and a good understanding of the operation of compressors and related equipment.
3. A knowledge of process skills in order to deal with equipment issues as they arise.
4. A driving licence is required.
5. A working knowledge of helium liquefiers and purifiers would be beneficial but not essential.
6. An understanding of the relevant Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
7. Good working knowledge of MS-Word, MS-Excel and E-mail.
8. A strong safety ethic is important.
