Justice Social Work is looking to recruit two Senior Social Workers to manage the community supervision teams in the West and the East of the region. The teams deliver front-line Justice Social Work services across Dumfries and Galloway.
The core duties provided by the team include:
1. Provision of social work services to the Courts and Parole Board.
2. Supervision of offenders subject to statutory orders and post custodial licences.
3. Management and delivery of personal change initiatives.
4. Preparation of court reports and parole reports.
5. Case management of a range of community orders.
6. Development of risk management plans.
7. Reintegration of those subject to post custodial sentences.
The typology of cases ranges from Multi Agency Public Protection (MAPPA) measures to those whose offending is related to drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, mental health, and sexual offences.
The successful candidate will have experience and knowledge of these service delivery areas and be able to demonstrate an ability to motivate and encourage team members to perform to their best ability and strive towards continuous development and improvement.
The post holder is also part of the Justice Management Team and will be expected to work in partnership with their fellow managers to deliver operations and contribute to service developments. A degree of budget oversight in relation to their team will also be expected.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence, consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
The post holder will have line management responsibility for a team of social workers and will be line managed by a Justice Social Work Team Manager.
