About the role
In this role, you will coordinate data across various work packages, collate analyses, and contribute to publications and project outputs. A key responsibility will be developing a comprehensive data management plan and database system that integrates both new and legacy data, ensuring sustainability beyond the project's duration. You will also spearhead the creation of an open-access plan for project data, collaborating closely with team members and stakeholders in the Caribbean and the UK. Fieldwork participation is an integral part of this role, providing opportunities for hands-on research and collaboration.
As a member of our research community, you will engage in high-quality data analysis, employing appropriate techniques to meet project milestones. Your expertise will be vital in interpreting and reporting research findings, contributing to publications such as journal articles, technical papers, monographs, and book chapters. Representing the research group at national and international conferences, you will disseminate results to both academic and broader audiences.
About you
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in archaeology and demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development within the field. A developing international profile, evidenced by a robust publishing track record in archaeology, is essential. You should possess proven problem-solving skills and expertise in handling complex data, with the flexibility to develop new approaches as required.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are crucial for effectively conveying complex information to diverse audiences. You should be adept at working both independently and as part of a team, with a demonstrated ability to manage tasks efficiently to meet project objectives. A willingness to engage with internal and external stakeholders, including international collaborators, government agencies, and heritage organisations in the Caribbean, is essential.
While not mandatory, proficiency in Spanish or a willingness to learn would be advantageous, facilitating smoother communication with our international partners. Project and budget management skills are also desirable, enabling effective oversight of project resources and timelines.
Flexibility is key in this role, as you will need to adapt to new developments and shifting project priorities. The position requires the ability to travel to the Caribbean and other locations for extended periods to conduct fieldwork and disseminate research findings.
