Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team on C2 Haematology team as a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse.
We are a 27 bedded oncology and haematology unit. We provide care for both malignant and non-malignant haematology conditions. We have 7 rooms dedicated to administering high dose chemotherapy alongside stem cell returns for patients diagnosed with Myeloma and Lymphoma. You will have considerable post registration experience with appropriate post qualification study within the field of cancer nursing. You will need to be able to demonstrate competency in intravenous therapy and SACT (Systematic anti-cancer therapy) administration. Preferably being skilled in providing patient controlled analgesia for non - malignant haematology conditions, such as sickle cell anaemia is desirable, further training is available.
There is a permanent position of 31hrs available and a secondment of 22.5hrs for 8 months.

Provide professional nursing leadership to the team and have excellent communication and leadership skills within a multidisciplinary team.Provide high standards of care for patients, carrying out all aspects of nursing care. Be able to broaden both oncology and haematology knowledge. Gain new skills within a clinical and leadership style. Gain experience when carrying the Cancer Care staffing bleep, and gain a knowledge of bed flow within the care group.
What were looking forYou will have considerable post registration experience with appropriate post qualification study within the field of cancer nursing. You will need to be able to demonstrate competency in intravenous therapy and preferably SACT administration. Skilled with patient-controlled analgesia is desirable as our non malignant haematology conditions, such as sickle cell anaemia require the use of patient-controlled analgesia (PCA). If you are ready for the challenge of a new role, then an informal visit is highly recommended.
