We are looking for self-motivated, committed Dietitian to provide a quality dietetic service to the Ipswich and East Suffolk population. You will be a key player within the dietetic team working predominantly in the acute setting.
You will manage a caseload of nutritionally vulnerable inpatients on both the surgical and gastroenterology wards and also working as the lead Dietitian for the newly refurbished Acute Respiratory Care Unit. The post is well suited to someone with interest in Nutrition Support, particularly enteral and parenteral nutrition.
You would also have the opportunity to gain some experience of critical care and working as part of a multi-disciplinary nutrition team. You will also benefit from working with other specialist dietitians as well as being responsible for day to day supervision of assistant practitioners in the team.
A range of skills is required for this post, including excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a busy workload. You should be someone who enjoys working within a team and is eager to provide supportto others.
We would also consider applicants for a Band 5/6 development post depending on experience.
• Specialist clinical Dietitian for surgical wards and acute respiratory care unitproviding a source of expertise to patients, carers, medical practitioners and allied health professionals and social care professionals as part of the multidisciplinary team
• To provide cover for Nutrition Support team Dietitian in periods of absence taking responsibility for management of patients requiring parenteral nutrition.
• To provide specialist input into the planning development and evaluation of dietetic services within surgery and acute services holding responsibility for defined projects.
• To provide nutritional support, education and advice to patients on the surgical wards and general wards as requires.
• Provide education and training for professional colleagues in all aspects of nutrition in acute care setting across East Suffolk, health and social care agencies.
• To supervise and support Band 4 Assistant Practitioner in acute team.

The Dietetic Team consists of 26 Dietitians with 6 Dietetic Support Staff providing a service to both acute and community settings and therefore opportunity to work alongside the acute team as well as the community team. We are also supported by secretarial and administrative staff. You will have access to regular supervision and have opportunities to undertake continuing professional development through work shadowing, tutorials and courses as identified by your training needs and objectives.
We are a well- recognised department for student training in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire and you will have an active role in supporting this programme. The trust is also committed with AHP research and has recently gained resource to support this within the trust.
