Job summary
Wolverton Health Centre has a fantastic opportunity for a medical secretary to join their team on a part-time basis, for 15 hours per week, on Monday & Thursday, 9am-5pm. This is an essential front-line role at the practice, providing an efficient, comprehensive secretarial and administrative support service to the practice management team.
Main duties of the job
1. Providing a full secretarial service including efficient audio-typing, copy-typing and word processing, for all GPs and health professionals, as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, meeting minutes, memorandums, etc., in an accurate and quality manner.
2. Handling patient and practice queries, regarding hospital appointments and treatments, confidentially.
3. Ensuring that any requests for information from medical records are appropriately dealt with, according to practice policy, and that all subsequent charges are invoiced appropriately.
4. Arranging meetings (to include the booking of rooms) as required.
5. Designing template letters and forms for use throughout the practice, as required.
6. Maintaining the computer-based clinic system, in an accurate and secure manner.
7. Assisting with the gathering of statistics and information, when required.
8. Performing any reasonable administrative tasks, as requested by the practice manager.

Essential
13. Excellent typing & keyboard skills.
14. Previous administration experience.
15. We are a very busy, friendly and caring practice looking for someone with energy and drive.
16. A good knowledge of computers is essential as you will be required to use the GP surgery clinical system which is SystmOne on a daily basis. You must be a good communicator, able to work on your own initiative and be part of a flexible team.
17. Experience of working within the NHS or within healthcare is preferable.
