About the Role

Role Responsibilities
* Lead production NPI activities, liaising with production management and engineering
* Assist engineering in producing paper and electronic build documentation
* Assist engineering in developing and implementing new and improved processes
* Follow Customer electrical diagrams / schematics for correct installation of components
* Operating and maintaining the flow solder, and selective solder machines
* Assisting engineering in programming and profiling of soldering machines
* Populating, soldering and conformal coating of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs)
* Wiring harness and looms using techniques such as soldering, wire and cable termination and wire preparation
* Construction of mechanical assemblies / box builds including identification of correct tooling and build issues, encapsulation of PCB's / assemblies to Customer specification, and providing first line engineering support
* Inspection to Customer specification and IPC Standards
* Test assemblies and products to Customer test specifications when required
* Train other members of staff
* Oversee other members of staff in the build of mechanical assemblies / box builds
* Make sure the correct use of tools and equipment are adhered to
* Take a high degree of care of the components handled minimizing loss
* Complete all required documentation as required; including paperwork copies and information stored and recorded on computers and in our MRP system
* Ensure the department is achieving the highest standards of quality
* Maintain and promote good housekeeping
* Adhere to all relevant Datalink policies and procedures
* Clearly communicate with other members of staff and escalate any work-related problems to the Production Supervisor / Manager
Role Requirements
* Knowledge and adherence of anti-static precautions
* Capable of working to the required quality standards
* Ability to understand drawings and identify components
* Knowledge of cable assembly (including crimping, soldering of wires and connectors)
* Experience in the assembly of electronic PCBs and sub-assemblies
* Experience in the use of soldering machines
* Experience in conformal coating / encapsulation of PCB's and assemblies
* Experience in PCB / Cable inspection to IPC standards
* Motivation to ensure excellent quality standards
