Outline of the role
The Procurement Manager plays a pivotal role within the Supply Chain Ecosystem Team, responsible for developing and maintaining the Procurement Schedule to ensure timely delivery of products and services essential for project success. This position requires strong leadership and collaboration with cross-functional teams, including Design, Commercial, and Delivery, to drive value through effective procurement strategies. The Ecosystem Manager will engage with Ecosystem Partners to foster relationships that enhance performance and innovation while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and procurement policies. With a focus on maximizing value for money, the role involves conducting sourcing events, leading commercial negotiations, and managing sustainable procurement risks. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in procurement, particularly within the water sector or complex infrastructure projects, and possess the skills necessary to navigate stakeholder dynamics and deliver exceptional results.
Project Outline
The Strategic Pipeline Alliance team in Peterborough, is one of the largest infrastructure projects in the UK. It will be achieved by the engineering, integration, and assembly of a series of interconnected pipelines which will enable our client to move water from areas with surplus water, to areas which are in deficit, making the east of England resilient to drought and securing water supplies for future generations.
As an Procurement Manager you will be responsible for
1. Procurement Management : Take ownership of the procurement schedule, ensuring timely delivery of products and services while maximizing value through effective sourcing events and supplier appointments.
2. Supplier Relationship Development : Build and maintain strong relationships with Ecosystem Partners, conducting performance feedback and quarterly meetings to ensure alignment and address any issues.
3. Commercial Negotiations : Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers, applying appropriate sourcing methodologies and ensuring compliance with procurement policies and processes.
4. Risk Management : Identify and manage sustainable procurement risks across all projects, understanding both micro and macro-economic impacts on the supply chain.
5. Support Purchase to Pay Process : Ensure compliance of requisitions with procurement policies, assist the Purchase to Pay (P2P) team with queries, and support delivery teams with one-off purchases as needed.
Required Skills and Experience
6. Procurement Experience : Relevant procurement experience, particularly in supporting operational teams.
7. Water Sector Knowledge : Applicable experience working within the water sector, either directly or indirectly.
8. Complex Infrastructure Projects : Experience in managing procurement activities related to complex infrastructure projects.
9. Supplier Management : Proven ability to develop and manage relationships with suppliers, ensuring performance feedback and collaboration.
10. Regulatory Knowledge : Familiarity with EU Procurement Regulations and compliance requirements, particularly in the context of the water industry.
11. Educational Background : Degree-level education, with a preference for qualifications in procurement or related fields (CIPS preferred).
12. Negotiation Skills : Excellent negotiation and influencing skills, with a track record of leading successful commercial negotiations.
