Deputy Nursery Manager
Reports to: Nursery Manager
Working hours:
1. Shift basis between the hours of 7:30am-6:00pm
2. Monday - Friday
3. 40 hours per week
4. Salary from GBP24,000.00 - GBP27,000.00 (Depending on skills and qualifications)
Main responsibilities:
1. To deliver a high standard of learning, development, and care for children aged 0-5 years
2. To deputise for the Nursery Manager
3. To be responsible for leading a room
4. To ensure the nursery environment is safe for children, staff, and others
5. To be responsible for opening and closing the nursery when required
6. To develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child's development
Main activities:
1. To provide a safe, caring, stimulating educational environment, both indoors and outdoors, at all times.
2. To deliver an appropriate play-based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum that enables children to make individual progress and to support other staff in doing so
3. Maintain good relationships with staff to support the welfare of the team
4. To be enthusiastic, fun, and engaging with children to promote excellent learning opportunities
5. To ensure the nursery meets Ofsted requirements at all times
6. To undertake designated safeguarding lead roles as directed.
7. To work with other professionals in the local area for the benefit of children and families
8. To understand and work to nursery policies and procedures, including how to deal with child protection issues appropriately and how to respond to incidents, accidents, complaints, and emergencies
9. Work closely with the nursery managers to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day duties
10. To be a key person.
11. To ensure records are properly maintained
12. To liaise closely with parents/carers, informing them about the nursery and its curriculum, exchanging information about children’s progress and encouraging parents' involvement.
13. To work in partnership with managers to update and review the self-evaluation and improvement plan.
14. Check and maintain ratios across the nursery throughout the day
15. To be involved in out-of-working-hours activities e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, summer fayre, open days etc.
16. Maintain cleanliness of the whole nursery building and ensure all kitchenettes and toilets in rooms are clean, safe, and tidy
17. Maintain attendance registers
18. Ensure dietary and allergy requirements are met
19. Regular deep cleaning and sterilising of equipment and resources
20. Parent show-arounds for new and prospective families
21. To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed, in accordance with the nursery ethos
