Job Title: Buyer
Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
Shift Pattern: 8.00am-5.00pm Monday to Friday
Location: Banbury
Our client, a specialist manufacturer based in Banbury, is seeking a Buyer. The Buyer will be responsible for managing purchase orders and requisitions, liaising with suppliers, building relationships, and ensuring the supplier meets the schedule of the build plan while ordering materials on time.
The Buyer Role:
1. Develop supplier relations for the supply of all parts to support multiple departments
2. Negotiate purchases of materials with suppliers
3. Build and maintain a supply base while focusing on supplier development
4. Develop good relationships with suppliers to ensure demand for materials is met and deliveries made on time
5. Support the general process for improvement to ensure efficient and reliable sourcing of materials
6. Develop procurement strategy, establish purchasing budgets, plans, policies, systems, and procedures within the organization
7. Negotiate key contract terms and conditions to optimize value and compliance
8. Ensure that internal operations and supplier activities align with company policies
9. Define product attributes and specifications for sourcing activities
10. Conduct component counts
11. Ensure the planning system is accurate and up to date
12. Negotiate costs down where appropriate
13. Manage supplier payments to ensure material planning and production processes are not disrupted
The Buyer Candidate:
1. Experience in purchasing mechanical and electrical components and systems
2. Experience managing POs, requisitions, and possess strong attention to detail along with a high level of computer literacy and competence
3. Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
4. Calm under pressure
5. Ability to take ownership and manage the purchasing process from end to end
6. Decisive decision-making skills that consider facts, goals, constraints, and risks
7. Aerospace or automotive experience is an advantage
8. Able to fact-find information, identify key issues, compare data from different sources, and draw appropriate conclusions to arrive at solutions
9. Comply with all company policies and procedures
