Bean Medical Practice are looking to recruit a friendly, hardworking and enthusiastic medical secretary/receptionist to join our Team. Experience of secretarial/receptionist work within a GP Practice or other NHS setting is preferred. You will provide a key service within the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, both in person and via the telephone.
Main duties of the job
1. To ensure an effective and efficient Reception service is provided to patients and other visitors to the practice.
2. Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments.
3. Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to patients.
4. Chaperone patients in consultations with GPs and Nurses as required (training will be provided).
5. Be able to cover for colleagues who are on annual leave or off sick.
6. Keep up to date with changes by regularly checking the practice notice boards and attending practice meetings.
7. To provide an efficient audio, copy typing and word processing service for GPs as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, in an accurate manner.
8. Checking Task list for new referrals and those awaiting results or reports.
9. Checking workflow and processing incoming letters.
10. Checking eRS worklist for rejections and redirections and deal with all related queries from patients and hospitals.
11. All patient correspondence to hospitals must contain their NHS number.
12. To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
13. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
14. Be adaptable, amiable and willing to take on new tasks.
15. Willing to provide overtime cover for holiday and sickness if required.

We are a forward-thinking Practice and are looking for someone who can fit into this fast-paced, often demanding environment. We are a friendly and supportive Practice. Our team includes 2 GP Partners, 2 Sessional GPs, and Physician Associate supported by an excellent nursing and administration team.
Job responsibilities
1. Provide a key service within the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, both in person and on the telephone.
2. Answer telephone calls from patients, taking a summary of their problem and allocating them to the most appropriate clinician.
3. Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
4. Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice.
5. Applicant MUST be able to work 8am starts and 6:30pm finishes.

Qualifications
* Experience in general practice Knowledge of the clinical system EMIS Web.
* GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths.
