Job Summary
Applications are invited for the post of Speciality Doctor, Community Paediatrician for Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust (SCHT), based in Shrewsbury. If you are enthusiastic, experienced and passionate about Children and Young People and being part of a supportive and friendly team then we would welcome your application. We are a progressive team working within a recently formed integrated care system with lots of opportunities for partnership working. Our staff turnover rates are low. You will be well supported by experienced team members and there is regular CPD with neighbouring Trusts.
The post holder will be based at Coral House, Shrewsbury with clinical sessions at various outreach clinics.

Main duties of the job
* You will be carrying out child development/neuro disability work within a friendly, passionate team dedicated to providing high quality care for our patients. There are no acute on-call commitments.
* Opportunity to develop specialist interest speciality will be encouraged.
* The post holder will be expected to work closely with Community Nursing Staff, Allied Health and Education Professionals and Social Workers.
* Participate in a week-day 9 am to 7 pm Safeguarding Child Protection on-call rota. This is supported by regular Child Protection Supervision and Peer Review. Frequency would be 1:6, no bank holidays.
* Good co-operative and joint working is in place across disciplines and between all local Health Trusts.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* Full GMC registration and licence to practice.
* MBBS, MBChB or equivalent medical qualification.
Experience Essential
* At least two years full time (or equivalent) in general paediatrics, or equivalent experience and competence.
* Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies by time of appointment in line with GMC standards in Good Medical Practice.
* Applicant's knowledge is up to date and fit to practise safely.
Clinical Skills Essential
* Ability to assess a normal child and to recognise and appropriately manage abnormality.
* Competent at Paediatric History Taking, Physical Examination, Assessment, Investigation & Interpretation Skills.
* Ability to work on own initiative without immediate supervision, but awareness of one's individual limitations.
Other Essential
* Able to travel to meet the requirements of the post.
