The Roles

The Ware Global Supply Chain (GSC) site is the largest GSK site in the UK with a thriving early talent community, lots of social activities, and a warm and welcoming support network. The site manufactures and supplies oral solid dose tablets (for HIV and oncology) and respiratory devices (for asthma and COPD) to over 140 countries across the world, making a real difference to people's lives.
Role 1 - Manufacturing Science and Technology (Respiratory Products)
* Trending and review of pharmaceutical product performance
* Support investigations into unexpected results - working with Labs and Quality colleagues
* Directly contribute to improving product performance by maintaining key documents updated, and entering / verifying data into quality systems
* Develop an understanding of pharmaceutical batch testing and release for Respiratory Products
* Visualise and analyse large datasets to support quality decisions
* Learn or improve coding skills (Python, SQL)
Role 2 - Process Engineering
* In-Process Investigation to support OSD manufacturing.
* Manufacturing schedule; intro to MSPM.
* Understanding the process operations, e.g. granulation and compression.
* MSPM investigation and interpretation.
* Weekly MSPM review and presentation during TAPS.
* Develop an understanding or basic OSD and R&D Process engineering and the unit operations.
* Usage of DDA and data analytics to support manufacturing.
Role 3 - Logistics & Data Systems
* Contribute to data quality, storage and accessibility work to support the Data Systems Team.
* The placement will include an understanding of flows in power automate to assist SAP export automation.
* Data cleaning and standardisation of manual excel sheets used in Logistics and Pack change.
Role 4 - Project Management
* Understanding the key steps involved in deploying a new strategy within the organization, and how projects help to deliver the vision and strategy for GSK.
* Working on a case study on how a recent project aligned with GSK's strategic goals and delivered measurable outcomes.
* Analysing a business case to identify key objectives, stakeholders, and expected benefits.
* Learning best practices for project planning, including defining scope, setting milestones, and allocating resources.
* Creating a project timeline using Gantt charts and other scheduling tools.
* Developing a communication plan to manage stakeholder expectations and ensure smooth project execution.
Role 5 - Quality Laboratories
* Shadow analysts, learning from them and observing laboratory ways of working.
* Perform practical techniques, such as pipetting and swabbing.
* Look at standardisation across the different laboratories.
* Perform waste mapping in order to identify improvements to existing processes.
* Have the ownership of a project.
Role 6 - RSC Production / Manufacturing
* This role will involve working in the RSC filling department, which is responsible for the manufacturing process of filling Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient blend into blister filled strips.
* You will work on an improvement project aligned to our business goals.
* You will use data and analytics to solve problems and implement solutions whilst gaining an understanding of how the value stream operates.
* As the role will be based in Ellipta manufacturing, students will be required to wear appropriate PPE.
