Head Host / Hostess - The Trafalgar St. James Part of Crimson Hotels, The Trafalgar St. James, Curio Collection by Hilton is a 5 Star hotel with 131 bedrooms including 3 signature suites and a number of venues including our unique Rooftop bar, lauded as one of the best in the city. Trafalgar St. James is looking for a bubbly and organized individual to join our food and beverage team as a Head Host / Hostess. The key purpose of this role is overseeing the hosting team to ensure a friendly and efficient welcome to all guests visiting The Rooftop and Rockwell, and to manage the reservations process to ensure maximum capacity and revenue targets are achieved. You will have great interpersonal skills and you will be very organised and a quick thinker. Your professional manner is second to none and your customer service skills are best in class. Duties and Responsibilities To be fully conversant with the facilities, services and special promotions offered by the hotel and to pass this information on to the guest whenever possible to maximise hotel sales. To oversee the day to day running of the host team and providing feedback on performance To oversee the reservations system to ensure maximum occupancy and revenues can be achieved To ensure communication across the department is efficient and effective, and all hosts on duty understand the daily priorities To assist with the smooth and efficient operation on the restaurant floor, ensuring facilities are maintained to the standards required To help build business and develop repeat business, especially from the local community and making the restaurant a ‘first choice’ in the local area To anticipate guest’s needs, and to carry out these requests in a courteous and helpful manner. Endeavour to resolve all complaints during each shift and log complaints for further follow up To ensure a sound knowledge of the local area regarding history, places of interest and special events and where further information can be obtained. To deliver training to the team to ensure an excellent service is consistently provided To work with the outlet managers to ensure appropriate staffing levels To oversee Fourth hospitality to approve holiday requests and working hours To display a ‘Can-Do’ Attitude at all times. Key Requirements You will have a clear passion for service and getting things done well and quickly. You will be organised. The ability to multitask and prioritise is important, as well as the ability to work well under pressure with the biggest smile. You are comfortable with people from different backgrounds, you produce quality work and you are flexible to work shifts. Experience within a similar environment is preferable, however, we look for attitude, quality and interpersonal skills rather than experience as we will give you the tools to ensure you are successful in your role.
