We are beginning to recruit staff to work with a Specialist SEN School in Hampshire and need Local Teaching Assistants for Short and long term roles starting this September. We are looking for candidates with experience of childcare, social care, support and care work, nursery experience, kids clubs and community groups and any relevant experience of working with vulnerable people who are looking for their next challenge This is a rewarding opportunity to support students aged 4-16 with a variety of additional needs including Autism (ASD), speech and language difficulties, moderate learning difficulties (MLD), and social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). Role Details: Position: SEN Teaching Assistant Start Date: September 2025 Pay: £13.75 per hour (paid weekly) Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (school hours, term-time only) Contract Type: Long-term (with potential for permanent opportunities) Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 or small group support to pupils with SEN across various age groups Assist with learning activities, both in and outside of the classroom Support students in developing communication, emotional regulation, and social skills Help implement behavioural strategies and promote a positive classroom environment Collaborate with teaching staff, therapists, and SEN specialists What We’re Looking For: Previous experience working with children or young people, ideally in an SEN setting Patience, empathy, and a calm approach to supporting challenging behaviours A proactive and flexible attitude, with a genuine desire to make a difference Strong communication and teamwork skills A valid Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one at your own cost) Relevant training (e.g. Team Teach, PECS, Makaton) is desirable but not essential Why Work with Teaching Personnel?
