About Us
Afterglow Interactive is an independent game development studio working on Target: Galaxy, a first-person action-investigation RPG set in a deep-space cyberpunk universe. We aim to push creative boundaries with immersive storytelling, innovative gameplay mechanics, and rich world-building.
Role Overview
We are seeking a 3D Generalist (Environment Focused) to collaborate on the development of Target: Galaxy. This is a voluntary role, ideal for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in game development, contribute meaningfully to an ambitious project, and build an impressive portfolio while working in a team-driven indie environment.
As a small team, we need someone flexible and capable of tackling multiple aspects of 3D art, primarily in environment creation but with the potential to assist in other areas.
Key Responsibilities:
* Unreal Engine Landscaping – Creating immersive sci-fi environments.
* Hard Surface Modelling (Sci-Fi Themed) – Designing props, structures, and detailed assets.
* Texturing – Applying high-quality materials using industry-standard tools.
* UV Mapping – Optimizing assets for Unreal Engine workflows.
Bonus (Optional, But a Plus):
* Character Animation – Rigging and animating characters.
* MetaHuman Experience – Creating and implementing characters into Unreal Engine (no prior experience required).
Requirements:
* Experience in environment art for Unreal Engine.
* Ability to model, texture, and UV map assets efficiently.
* A good eye for sci-fi world-building and environmental storytelling.
* Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
What You’ll Gain:
* Hands-on experience in indie game development.
* A portfolio piece showcasing your contributions to a fully realized project.
* The opportunity to work in a collaborative and passionate team environment.
* Industry connections and networking opportunities.
* Your name in the credits of a published title, solidifying your contribution to the industry.
* The ability to list a registered game studio on your CV, enhancing credibility and future job prospects.
* Potential for future paid opportunities based on project funding.
Commitment & Expectations:
* This is a voluntary position unless funding is secured.
* Given the nature of the role, it requires longer sprints rather than short daily tasks.
* We will work with you to establish a rota/timetable that fits your availability.
