Job description
Prospero Teaching are recruiting for a Senior Learning Mentor to work in a Pupil Referral Unit in Chorlton. It is a provision catering to young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. Your responsibilities would be to take a lead role within the school, leading and deploying learning mentors in addressing the needs of pupils who require particular help to engage with the curriculum.
You would also be required to support and manage a team of learning mentors.

Main Duties
Support for pupils :
– Managing and delivering pastoral and SEN support
– Delivering sessions to groups of students
– Manage pupils who are not working to a normal timetable
-Implementing EHCPs (education and health care plans) for students
– Give 1:1 support to students who need extra support with their social development
Support for Teachers
– Liaise with other schools and bodies to gather information
– Planning and evaluating learning activities
– Monitor students’ development
– Provide support through Pastoral work and Mentoring
Line Management Responsibilities
– Manage Learning Mentors within your department
– Liaising between managers/ teaching staff and Learning Mentors
– Hold regular team meetings
Previous Experience / Requirements :
– Experience of working with children/young people with SEND, behavioural difficulties and those with communication, severe, profound or complex learning difficulties where appropriate
– NVQ Level 3 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent qualification or experience
– Ability to use relevant technology eg photocopier
– Full working knowledge and understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategic processes and barriers to learning, including behaviour management strategies
– Full understanding of the range of support services/providers
