Job Description:
* Proactively managing the workload, including assisting with other work as needed.
* Understanding aseptic technique and good lab practices, maintaining standards by reporting issues to the Team Leader or Section Manager.
* Having in-depth knowledge of methods, assisting in method development and pre-planned validation work.
* Involved in training and guiding staff as applicable.
* Carrying out routine and non-routine maintenance as required.
* Contributing to problem-solving efforts.
* Conducting the Salmonella method from start to finish, including confirmation of positive results.
* Conducting confirmations for other bacteria.
* Communicating professionally with co-workers regarding discrepancies/queries and ensuring timely responses to emails.
* Sorting samples and ensuring they correspond with relevant paperwork.
* Correctly reporting all samples into LIMS.
* Preparing dry culture media in line with Standard Operating Procedures.
* Understanding and following provided Standard Operating Procedures.
* Maintaining Cawood credibility by portraying a positive image and keeping equipment and PPE clean.
* Respecting company equipment and reporting any damage to management promptly.
* Working as a team, maintaining morale, and actively offering help and assistance.
* Keeping safety at the forefront of lab work and reporting accidents and near misses to management immediately.
* Assisting with on-site training of new employees, ensuring a friendly and engaging onboarding experience.
* Using instrumentation such as balances, incubators, autoclaves, preparators, dilumats, and pipettes after successful training.
* Completing training to become a Fire Marshall, First Aider, or Internal Auditor as required.
* Diligence: Complying with Cawood ways of working, policies, and procedures.
* Maintaining safe, compliant, and effective working standards.
* Efficiency: Constantly reviewing and optimizing ways of working, sharing good practices, and suggesting improvements.
* Working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high work quality standards.
* Communication: Understanding and utilizing structural reporting lines for support.
* Reporting lab problems effectively and promptly.
