An exciting opportunity is available for a Maternity Ward Clerk to join the Maternity Services. We are looking for an individual with excellent communication and organisational skills, who is enthusiastic, self-motivated, and committed to the provision of a high-quality service.
You will need the drive and initiative to support the Labour and Swan Ward team with clerical and administrative duties.
We are a 24/7 365-day service and do require cover throughout all these times. Therefore, it is important to understand that this role will include night, weekend, and bank holiday shifts.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide clerical and administrative support to the clinical team in the Labour and Swan Ward.
2. Input, maintain, and retrieve data from a variety of databases.
Job responsibilities
1. Using the Lorenzo system to ensure that all patients attending Labour and Swan ward are accounted for.
2. Responsible for organising and maintaining the healthcare records of all women accessing the maternity services.
3. Set up and maintain a process to ensure all maternity filing (including results, correspondence, and reports) are accurately and appropriately archived in the healthcare records.
4. Scan correspondence onto the electronic Maternity System.
5. Keep databases and reports for glucose tolerance tests and Anti D injections up to date.
6. Assist the Labour and Swan team with all necessary clerical duties.
7. Ensure all stationery is ordered when needed.
8. Maintain confidentiality of information about patients and staff and Trust business in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
9. Be the first point of contact for women and their families accessing the Labour ward and Swan service, demonstrating a welcoming demeanour in person and on the phone.
10. Work under supervision, meet deadlines, and have the ability to prioritise work according to differing demands from staff.
11. Have a confident and committed working approach to all duties.
12. Receive and relay oral messages, answer telephone queries, and receive and sort/distribute incoming mail as appropriate.
13. Carry out any other duties commensurate with the post holder's band, as agreed by their line manager.
