Technical Coordinator - Engineering Background
The role of a Technical Coordinator (engineering background) is to support a number of housing developments through the delivery of cost-effective engineering solutions. The successful candidate must be adaptable and have a strong and consistent management approach to managing external consultants.
Health, Safety & Environment
1. Competently implement CDM/EMS, identifying foreseeable risks in designs and taking action to design risk out, in line with company policy.
2. Discharge the Designer's responsibilities under CDM regulations.
3. Fully understand the CDM/EMS regulations and demonstrate a working knowledge of how these should be incorporated into designs.
4. Ensure CDM/EMS site start processes and site close-out procedures are followed and recorded.
5. Maintain a good understanding of environmental/ecological constraints to development and ensure that appropriate mitigation is undertaken to allow development to proceed in line with the Regional Programme.
Land, Planning & Community Engagement
1. Continue to develop site designs and provide full engineering support throughout the planning and building regulation process.
2. Manage consultants in road, sewer, levels, cut and fill designs, to satisfy planning whilst maintaining the most competitive and practical solution.
3. Co-ordinate and manage external consultants to resolve any engineering issues.
4. Co-ordinate and manage statutory bodies such as Highway Authorities/Road authority, Water Companies, Environment Agencies, etc. to resolve any engineering issues.
5. Work with the project team to add value and secure the best planning consent and engineering solution for the company.
6. Manage community engagement consultations to support planning applications.
7. Responsible for evaluation and appraisal of development opportunities to purchase new sites.
Experience, Qualifications, Technical Requirements
1. Extensive experience of engineering issues gained within the housebuilding industry e.g. roads and sewers, foundations, land drainage, utilities, etc.
2. IT/Computer literate.
3. Engineering-related qualification, degree or equivalent.
4. A degree or higher education course which ideally is accredited by the Institution for Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Institute of Chartered Engineers (ICE).
5. Part of a successful engineering team.
6. A high level of proficiency in AutoCAD / PDS / Windes / Microdrainage.
7. Ability to undertake civil engineering design in-house and to manage and assess external designs.
8. Thorough understanding of technical and regulatory requirements.
9. Ability to interpret geotechnical and environmental reports and make suitable recommendations.
10. Demonstrate a track record of producing technical site appraisals.
11. Thorough knowledge of assessment of ground conditions for foundation and sub-structure design.
12. Thorough knowledge of remediation techniques and methodology.
13. Ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise.
