Position: Peripatetic Social Care Worker
Hours: 27.17 hours per week, Shift working over seven days
Type: Permanent
Salary: £33,364 - £34,064 / £34,871 - £37,332 pro rata
Hourly Rate: £17.29 - £17.66 / £18.08 - £19.35
Note: The above amounts include shift allowance and Distant Islands Allowance.
The All Age Learning Disabilities Short Breaks and Supported Living Network services provide a wide range of high-quality support services for adults who have Learning Disabilities and their families. This includes supporting adults in their own homes in the community and a Short Breaks (Respite) Service. This post is predominantly based in the Supported Living Network part of the service; however, candidates must demonstrate a willingness to work across a range of services.
The All Age Learning Disabilities Short Breaks Service is looking for a highly motivated individual with a combination of skills, who has the ability to work both on an individual basis and as a member of a team. The post holder will support and key work a range of individuals across the service where shifts will be distributed on a need-identified basis.
You will have good communication skills and adopt a person-centred approach to deliver a high standard of flexible and responsive care to service users within the Supported Living Network setting. You will provide support and assistance to service users using the re-ablement approach that includes support and assistance for service users to maximise and maintain their independence and access community facilities.
You should have knowledge and experience of Support Planning and Risk Assessing in relation to people who have Learning Disabilities. You will report to the Senior Social Care Worker. You must be able to evidence a commitment to the care of adults with Learning Disabilities and preferably have experience in the field of support needs. We are looking for someone with a strong sense of professionalism, sound knowledge of the principles of social inclusion, care planning, and risk assessment, and who is familiar with the standards of care required to meet the National Care Standards and Care Inspectorate.
To be appointed at Grade E:
You should hold an SVQ 2 or equivalent level qualification in Social Care AND achieve an SVQ 3 in Social Care or another relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner in a Care Home Service for Adults within 5 years of appointment.
To be appointed at/progression to Grade F:
You should hold an SVQ 3 in Social Care or another relevant qualification to enable registration with the SSSC as a Practitioner in a Care Home Service for Adults. You are required to register with the SSSC within 6 months of appointment.
Requirements:
* You should be able to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Orkney to meet the operational requirement of the Service.
* This post is subject to membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme in respect of regulated work with adults.
