About The Role Location: Community based in Norfolk and Waveney, with home working elements Contract: 35 hours per week, Fixed Term until April 2026 Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of people affected by dementia? About the role This is an exciting new role within the Norfolk and Waveney Dementia Support Service, which runs a person-centred and localised dementia support service, to those living with and / or affected by dementia across the area. As a Local Communities and Volunteering Officer, you'll be responsible for delivering: You will: Work with local communities to build trust and raise awareness of dementia and our information, support and services. Attend and organise events, build relationships and manage volunteers across the region. Work closely with the Local Communities and Volunteering Lead and Local Services Manager to deliver our planned community engagement activity, with a particular focus on reaching underserved communities. Provide training support with the Local Communities and Volunteering Lead. Create opportunities to stay connected with our volunteers by organising volunteers networking and events both online and in person. About you We are looking for a highly motivated individual, with an understanding of dementia, the needs of people affected by dementia, and experience of working with the underrepresented communities. You will essentially have experience in coordinating and delivering talks, presentations and information sharing events to a range of external stakeholders which include faith groups, voluntary and community-based organisations, and others. Experience of working with volunteers would be advantageous. You are: Self-motivated and can work independently from home using your own initiative, but equally you are a team player keen to support your colleagues. You have some knowledge or personal experience of dementia and the challenges people affected by it may face. Able and confident to travel within the service area and visit people in their homes Able and confident to line manage volunteers Able and confident to organise events and deliver dementia information sessions. Confident in using IT based client recording data bases and able to adhere to procedures and policies.
