Opcare have been providing the Orthotic Service in Coventry and Rugby since 2009. This role is an excellent opportunity to have a key influence within the service to advance and improve the delivery of service. The Orthotic Department is based in UHCW Coventry, where we provide inpatient, outpatient and community orthotic care for a wide variety of patients. There is a complex mix of Adult and Paediatric MDTs and extended practice clinics which provide a great opportunity to be exposed to interesting and varied caseloads. We also have clinics running at Rugby St Cross and Schools Clinics running offsite weekly.
UHCW provide specialist gait lab assessments both 2D and 3D which the orthotic team are an important part of. Onsite at UHCW we work closely with the gait lab team, specialist physiotherapists, orthopaedic surgeons and consultant endocrinologists for surgical and medical planning pathways for paediatric and adult lower limbs. Alongside the specialist paediatric clinics, the role supports the day-to-day delivery of orthotic services within UHCW. This includes diabetic, MSK and general outpatient clinics. There is opportunity to work across company networks and groups including 3D manufacturing, scanning and clinical governance projects.
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking an experienced Orthotist who is looking for an opportunity to develop their career and be a part of our team at UHCW. They will act as the Lead Paediatric Clinician and work with operational, manufacturing and administrative staff to deliver the contracted level of service along with developing the service for the betterment of patients. The role holder will provide mentoring support to less experienced orthotists, graduates, and students; as well as guiding and supporting more experienced staff to continue their professional development. They will also deputise for the service Clinical Lead as and when required.
Within the Orthotic Department, there are a wide variety of MDTs and extended practice clinics including, but not limited to:
* In and out-patient clinics for neurological conditions
* Paediatrics
* Diabetic foot
* Complex Foot and ankle Orthopaedic clinics
* Theatre casts and removal
* Gait lab and surgical planning
Key Responsibilities:
Some of the key responsibilities the role holder will have responsibility for:
* Ensure the delivery of high-quality care for all patients and the smooth running of the service both at Coventry Hospital, Rugby St Cross and our satellite clinics.
* Assisting with supporting, developing, and managing the Orthotic team. This will include some deputising duties on behalf of the Clinical Lead.
* Clinical management and scheduling to ensure smooth clinical operation.
* Building and maintaining good working relationships with multi-disciplinary teams (MDT’s) across the trust.
* Supporting and contributing to Opcare services by contributing to our national care pathways, protocols, and leadership on orthotics.
* Working with the management and production teams to provide excellent orthotic devices as prescribed.
* Leading on the use of newer technology and innovations e.g. systems and 3D print, to improve service delivery.
* Share your knowledge and experience with junior colleagues and offer mentorship to graduates.
* Help coordinate and contribute to in-service training sessions.

Qualifications:
* BSc Prosthetics and Orthotics
* Certified Orthotist
* HND Orthotics
Must also be fully HCPC Registered.
