Let’s take it on!
Reporting to Senior Transport Planner, you will form part of a small team responsible for ensuring that all business requirements for deliveries are booked and matched to Transport operational requirements of LGV’s, vans and drivers on a daily basis. You will be responsible for allocating drivers to deliveries & routes and managing their rotas, requests and queries. Responsible for the trunking plan across the UK and Ireland and allocation of agency and core drivers, you will be running daily checks to ensure that the route/driver plans that are in place are correct to ensure the operation runs smoothly without issue and that Next’s service delivery levels are met. Transport Planners at NEXT are responsible for peak & sale planning along with various amounts of project work to deliver continuous improvements to the Transport department and the wider business. You will produce reports as required and highlight data trends.
About you
The successful candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to build strong working relationships at all levels within the business, both in the UK and internationally.
Experience within transport, logistics or supply chain and knowledge of Road Transport Directive (RTD) and Working Time Directive (WTD) would be advantageous but not essential. You might be currently in a Transport Administration role looking to take the next step within Transport, or be a recent graduate within Transport or Logistics ready to start your career within Transport. In all cases, you should be PC literate, notably within Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel and data entry experience is beneficial. You will be organised, with a keen eye for detail; the nature of the role requires you to accurately match information within the systems.
