We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join us as and Information Governance Apprentice in our Corporate Services Division in Merton, starting July. You will be a motivated and committed individual who wants to make a difference and develop their knowledge and practical understanding of Freedom of Information, Subject Access rights and the Data Protection Act. You will work with a team of specialist professionals in a range of situations to support and promote positive change to the Council’s information governance and the quality of service we provide. You will learn to use professional judgement and build relationships with a variety of individuals, as well as with a wide range of other professionals and agencies. You will develop your ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate complex situations requiring the skills to critically reflect and make decisions within a clear professional and legislative framework.
We are looking for applicants who:
1. Can evidence suitable academic ability i.e., GCSE Maths and English (Grade A-C or 9-4) or equivalent;
2. Have an interest in the Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts;
3. Have some experience of Microsoft office applications, such as Word, Excel and Teams (or similar);
4. Are keen to learn and motivated to succeed;
The apprentice will gain a level 4 certificate in data protection & information governance.

5. Information and Records Management Society for Individual member grade
6. The British Computer Society for Associate member grade
Deadline for applications: Friday 28th of June at 11.59pm. The apprentice role is level 4 and above.
Applicants who are shortlisted will be invited to an interview with Merton Council on Wednesday 10th July. The successful applicant should expect to start the role at the end of July.
