TEMPERATURE LABORATORY
Job Title: Laboratory Calibration Technician
Responsible to: Laboratory Supervisor.
Special Relationships: Head / Deputy Head of Lab, SSO Quality Manager & SSO UK Lab Manager.
Summary of Main Purpose of Role:
To carry out the routine calibration work on Service customer’s returned equipment and Sales orders as supplied by Production. To carry out performance checks and minor repairs on customer units.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical
1. To perform the routine calibrations on customer equipment sent in for calibration.
2. To perform the routine calibrations on Sales orders as supplied by Production.
3. To carry out performance checks and minor repairs on customer units.
4. To use their knowledge of calibration to determine when a customer’s unit is out of spec or showing signs of being faulty.
5. To ensure that all test or calibration equipment that is being used is within its calibration period before starting any calibration work.
6. To work to the daily backlog priorities unless there is a request to change priorities by the Laboratory Supervisor or Head / Deputy Head of Lab.
7. To regularly check the environmental monitor within the area in which they are working and raise any issues related to the environmental conditions with the Head / Deputy Head of Lab.
8. To perform monthly checks on the Liquid baths, Chamber, & RH% Cal Rig.
9. To assist the Head or Deputy Head of Lab with any investigation work if requested.
10. To assist the other Lab Calibration Technicians with any technical and measurement related queries or problems.
11. To support and assist the Head / Deputy Head of Lab with the daily maintenance of all test and calibration equipment.
Communication
1. To ensure all activities within the scope of the above duties are regularly reported to the Laboratory Supervisor or Head / Deputy Head of Laboratory.
2. To report any non-conforming work to the Laboratory Supervisor or Lab Admin support team via Teams, Email, or Oracle notes.
3. To report any problems or suspected anomalies observed within the Laboratory or the In-house equipment involved in the calibration process to the Head / Deputy Head of Lab.
4. To report any mishandling of Test or calibration equipment, either deliberate or accidental, to the Head or Deputy Head of Lab.
General
1. Always carry out all work in the Laboratory with an emphasis on quality.

4. Ensure that all activities are undertaken impartially and ensure that all activities are structured and managed as to safeguard impartiality.
5. Ensure that all information obtained or created during the daily processes is regarded as confidential, this includes all customer details and information, as well as details of any calibration work carried out for the customer.
6. Try to adhere to the 5S culture to ensure a safe and accident-free environment for all staff members.

Technical Attributes:
* Basic PC Awareness – Basic to reasonable knowledge of PCs and Microsoft Office applications. (Excel would be preferred).
* Basic Mathematic Skills – GCSE level 4/C or above in math and English (Or equivalent).
* Practical Aptitude – Reasonably practical in their approach to work and problem-solving.
* Previous Technical experience – Foundation level of electronics is an advantage.
