Job Overview
Band 5 and 6 Midwives - Full or Part Time roles. Please note, if you prefer working on a part-time basis you will receive a salary on a pro rata basis subject to hours offered. It is an exciting yet challenging time for the Maternity Services at GWH, as we embrace a period of improvement and development.
As part of this, we have a number of opportunities for both experienced and newly qualified midwives to join our fabulous team in all Maternity settings. We have a fantastic package for newly qualified midwives and a dedicated Preceptorship Lead Midwife who provides invaluable support to guide you through.
We are looking for midwives who can demonstrate kindness and compassion and are passionate about providing gold standard care to the families who choose to birth with us.
Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
The post holder is required to provide holistic midwifery care to women/birthing people and babies in the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods. The midwifery care is provided both in hospital, Birth Centre, Day assessment Unit, Maternity Triage, Transitional Care Unit and community settings including the management of individual caseloads, clients and/or ward areas.
All posts will include shift working (including night duty) and on-call duty. The successful applicants will receive an orientation programme and are assured that they will receive appropriate support.
Qualifications B6
Essential criteria:
* Registered Midwife
* Practising Midwife
* Maintained an up to date professional portfolio
* Training in management of obstetric emergencies
* Valid Driving Licence
Desirable criteria:
* To have obtained or be studying to degree level (or diploma with equivalent experience)
* Teaching/Mentoring qualification
Experience B6
Essential criteria:
* Recent experience in all aspects of midwifery practice.
* Competencies relevant to sphere of practice.
Desirable criteria:
* Evidence of further study and development of professional and academic skills
* Experience of mentoring students
Qualifications B5
Essential criteria:
* Registered Midwife
* Current NMC Registration
Experience B5
Essential criteria:
* Experience gained through training
Desirable criteria:
* Ability to use flexible, innovative approaches to practice which are tailored to meet the individual needs of the clients
