We help connect people to their friends and families and get goods to their destination safely and efficiently. \n\nUpon joining Network Rail, you will be known as a Commercial Apprentice, you will provide commercial support to the wider team and become actively involved in the day-to-day commercial administration of contracts. This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in cost management and contract administration, while working towards a Graduate Apprenticeship BSc (Hons) in Construction and the Built Environment â Quantity Surveying.\n\nYou will be a valued member of our commercial team, working with professionals who'll provide mentorship and support throughout your academic journey. \n\nYou will also attend university on a day or block release basis to develop the technical knowledge required to become a qualified Quantity Surveyor. During your apprenticeship, you'll learn theory and practical skills to be able to manage all costs relating to civil engineering projects from initial calculations to final account.\nAs an apprentice, you will develop technical, legal, analytical and evaluation skills in contractual frameworks, costing a project and enhancing value for money.\nUpon completing your apprenticeship, you will earn a BSc (Hons) in Construction and the Built Environment â Quantity Surveying, equipping you with industry-recognised qualifications and paving the way towards professional accreditation.\n\nYour day will consist of:\n\n- Supporting our commercial team with procurement activities\n- Collating Cost and Value information\n- Preparing Contractor cost and budget comparisons\n- Supporting the compilation of supplier performance reports as per Network Rail process, and as defined within certain contracts. Keep commercial records up to date in properly maintained files and subsequently archive (and adequately record) the documents, following commercial close out.\n- Measuring from drawings or on site to establish quantities.\n- Assisting in preparation of estimates for works. Input cost and quantity information into estimating systems and produce reports, using cost modelling tools as required. To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you should:\n\n- Have obtained or be working towards relevant Higher Education qualifications (Standard entry requirement of 4 SQA Highers, two grade B and two grade C)\n o\tAlternative combinations of Highers and Advanced Highers will be considered.\n- Applicants with an HNC or HND in a related discipline may be eligible for advanced entry into Year 2\n- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and a proactive approach to both academic and vocational development\n\nAll offers of employment are conditional upon satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks.
