York Hospital Vitreoretinal service are looking forward to welcoming to the team a highly motivated vitreoretinal fellow. We run a high volume acute and elective service and anticipate many opportunities for developing clinical and surgical skills in vitreoretinal practice. The fellow can anticipate well supervised and supported training as they develop skills and build on their enthusiasm for this exciting field. The successful candidate will join the team as a Vitreoretinal Fellow and will work closely with Mr Colin Murray, Miss Izabela Mitrut, Mr Yasser Elazhary and Miss Laura Wakely.
The timetable will expose the post holder to clinic and theatre experience, ensuring competencies progress. It is anticipated a minimum of 4 theatre lists, supported by clinic, will be timetabled per week. This fellowship would be suitable for either a first fellowship or a second fellowship.
The successful candidate will be exposed to vitreoretinal clinics, laser / cryotherapy / intravitreal treatments, acute / elective triage and clinical / surgical management of a wide variety of vitreoretinal conditions. There will not be any general ophthalmology urgent referral casualty clinic component to this post. The vitreoretinal surgical theatres are currently equipped with DORC Eva vitrectomy system and Zeiss Lumera microscope with VR viewing system/capability. Clinics are well supported with Optos, FFA and Heidelberg OCT. The fellow would also participate within the VR MDT.
