Main duties of the job
University Hospitals Sussex (UHS) places immense value on its Aseptic pharmacy team, which has steadily grown in both strength and size over the years. We are delighted to announce an exceptional opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician, Higher Level to join our well-established team of dedicated professionals.
The job holder must be a registered technician and will need to be able to work on their own and with other members of the pharmacy aseptic services team. Aseptic duties are to be carried out in line with the aseptic unit standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To provide assistance in the provision of pharmacy aseptic services at St Richards for patients within the Trust including: supervision of staff, organisation of day to day activities, preparation of cytotoxic products, worksheet and label preparation and monitoring of the environment.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Participate in co-ordinating the activities for the aseptic unit, supervising staff placement and ensuring safe working practices within the unit.
2. Ensure that aseptic duties are carried out according to national standards
3. Work towards achieving regional/national accreditations e.g. Pre and In Process Checking (PIPC) and maintain an up to date portfolio of evidence to meet CPD requirements of the accreditation.
4. Act as a role-model and provide a positive mentoring experience for new and junior staff.

Experience and Qualifications
Essential criteria
5. NVQ Level 3 in pharmacy services or equivalent, BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science or Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3
6. Significant experience working in a hospital pharmacy.
7. Significant experience of working within a pharmacy aseptic unit.
Desirable criteria
8. Pre and In Process Checking (PIPC) Accreditation or equivalent or fulfils requirements for undertaking regional course.
9. Educational Practice Supervisor

10. Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC or registered as a Science Manufacturing Technician through an appropriate industry body.

11. Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of aseptic unit procedures and systems.
12. Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of pharmacy dispensing procedures and systems.
13. Experience of staff supervision
