Job Description
CAN BE REMOTE WORKING AFTER COMPLETION OF STANDARD PROBATIONARY PERIOD - THEREFORE YOU SHOULD BE BASED IN SCOTLAND FOR A WEEKLY CATCH UP WITH DIRECTOR
PART TIME/FLEXIBLE HOURS ALSO CONSIDERED
COMPETITIVE SALARY WITH ADDITIONAL DAYS HOLIDAY GAINED AS YOU PROGRESS.
Are you a QUALIFIED CA/ACCA, PART QUALIFIED or QUALIFIED BY EXPERIENCE with several years of hands-on UK Accountancy Practice Firm background in general practice-year end accounts preparation, client bookkeeping, VAT and possibly some basic tax? Are you seeking a fresh change with a varied 'hands-on' role with real flexibility to work mainly from home if desired, with regular Teams meetings with the rest of the small team and the ability to catch up with the Director face to face, once per week?
Our client, a small, busy and growing Accountancy Practice, seeks to recruit an experienced Accounts/Client Manager to manage a client portfolio and take responsibility for preparing a range of year-end financial accounts, reviewing client work, handling a range of client bookkeeping and VAT, and using various IT accounts systems, such as Quickbooks, Xero, Sage, Iris Lead schedules, and ICAS pack. This is a 'hands-on' role suiting someone who enjoys being involved in all aspects with regular client contact/liaison; it is a non-people management role but more of a client portfolio management role.
You will be joining a small but highly motivated team who are on their journey to provide the best service to this client's client base, offering a very personal and best practice service that covers a wide range of sectors. The role will therefore provide a great deal of client contact, helping them build success in their business. As accountancy work is changing to meet new ways of working, our client embraces this more flexible way of working.
IDEAL PERSON:
Qualified CA/ACCA, Part Qualified or Qualified through years of UK Accountancy Practice Firm experience, highly motivated, determined to succeed, and able to work well within a team or independently when required. We will provide a flexible working environment and aim to help you find that perfect work/life balance.
Our client is growing quickly and needs someone to help with that growth, someone who wants the opportunity to be part of something special, with a career that can take you through many years, helping this client continually grow and provide the best service possible to all clients. The client base ranges from large Limited Companies, property businesses, high net worth individuals, and those in the entertainment sector, together with businesses in hospitality and main street businesses. Our client also provides specialist tax support for legal firms and a bespoke support service for other accountancy practices.
MAIN DUTIES:
1. Service a varied portfolio of clients in a pro-active manner.
2. Preparation of management accounts for a variety of clients and writing meaningful commentaries on the figures which will assist clients in effectively running their businesses.
3. Preparation of forecasts, business plans, and other ad hoc reports.
4. Preparation of annual accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
5. Preparation of VAT Returns including partial exemption calculations.
6. Setting up clients with HMRC for PAYE, VAT, and Corporation Tax.
7. Assisting with the review and development of improved working practices and in-house training sessions.
8. Liaising with HMRC and Companies House.
9. Developing and maintaining client contact and relationships.
