Job summary Cardiff and Vale University Health Board finance department is looking for a diligent and motivated finance professional to fill the role of Senior Finance Business Partner (Band 8c). Senior FBPs are the professional finance lead / head of finance for a Clinical Board. This role is leading the finance team for the Medicine Clinical Board portfolio, reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance (PCIC, MED, MH). The Clinical Board has an annual budget of circa £180m with local, regional and specialist services provided across a number of sites within Cardiff and Vale. The portfolio includes EU and Acute Care, Integrated Medicine, Gastro, Specialised Services such as Cystic Fibrosis / Welsh Gender Service among many other specialisms. The role presents an exciting opportunity for both personal and professional development, together with an opportunity to be involved in and lead on issues across the wider finance department, well supported by the senior leadership team. The post holder will ensure close partnership working with the clinical and operational leadership teams within Medicine, focusing on Value and Improvement, as part of developing sustainable ongoing financial plans. The post is based at Woodland House, Cardiff. The department currently operates an agile working policy requiring a minimum of 50% of working time in the office as well as across hospital sites as required. Main duties of the job The post holder will Have delegated responsibility for providing professional financial leadership, advice, support and information for the activities of the Medicine Clinical Board. This will enable the Clinical Board to effectively and proactively set and manage their budgets and finances to ensure the achievement of financial plans. Support the Clinical Board in identifying opportunities for improvement in value and to deliver efficiency, productivity and savings plans. Manage and lead the Medicine finance team, supporting in personal and professional development, whilst promoting wider department learning as a senior manager. Work closely with clinical and operational colleagues to support and deliver changing pathways alongside Primary and Community Care. The successful candidate will: Be a CCAB fully qualified accountant and member of professional body, with senior manager experience Be able to work collaboratively with a positive attitude and strong communication and influencing skills Have a passion for best practice and improvement in value Promote the use of sound financial and non-financial information to support service improvement and evidence-based decision-making Bring energy and vision to the Clinical Board to support and shape its strategic plan Promote a culture of support, inclusivity and development with a focus on continuous improvement The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
