The Role: Production Engineer
To carry out day-to-day planned and reactive maintenance across multiple production lines, ensuring all works are completed in a safe, hygienic, and timely manner. To work as part of a team in identifying and implementing quality and efficiency improvements.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
* You will provide technical problem-solving support to the operations teams to ensure production lines are running effectively. You will carry out problem solving using mechanical, electrical, and process knowledge and skills, deliver planned and reactive maintenance across multiple production lines, and ensure all works are completed in a safe, hygienic, and timely manner.
* Support the Operations teams by providing technical problem-solving support to assist in achieving factory KPIs.
* Take ownership of engineering actions arising from daily performance review meetings.
* Service, adjust, and repair machinery and equipment using the necessary tools in a safe and proper manner.
* Examine machinery and equipment and report on condition, performance, and plan of action.
* Carry out planned and preventive maintenance to agreed schedules.
* Oversee contractor activities for PPM and reactive maintenance, including working to Health and Safety and Permit to Work requirements in line with site procedures.
* Review and update maintenance procedures where required or as necessary.
* Maintain all current statutory, regulatory, and company safety and quality standards.
* Ensure that own work complies with GMP and GDP and is undertaken in accordance with applicable procedures.
What We’re Looking For In You:
* Have formal Engineering qualifications, having either completed a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent applicable experience.
* Multi-skilled with experience of fault finding and repair of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic circuits and components.
* Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
* Able to work on own initiative and prioritise work.
* Have contributed to Root Cause Analysis on equipment and reduced/limited reappearance of the problem.
* Flexible and adaptable attitude to teamwork and process change.
* Fully able to follow the requirements of Health & Safety within engineering including Risk Assessment, PUWER, COSHH, LOLER, SSOW.
* Experience of Microsoft Office.
* Experience of using Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software for planned maintenance.
It Would Be Great If You Have:
* Experience of working in a food or pharmaceutical industry and having a good understanding of a manufacturing process environment and ability to follow GMP.
* Experience of working with some of the following equipment: multi-head weighers, checkweighers, metal detectors, tray sealers, flow wrappers, cartoners, box makers, case tapers, and hot melt glue systems, is beneficial.
* Proven experience of delivering problem-solving, maintenance, and breakdown cover in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
