Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapist elective surgery and medical therapy team within University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will be based at Solihull hospital and will be expected to support the delivery and development of therapy provision to a range of elective surgical patients and general medicine. The post holder will provide clinical assessment and support with the rehabilitation and respiratory management of the surgical and medical patients. They will lead clinical developments and research opportunities to proactively move surgical physiotherapy services forward to the benefit of patients and staff within the Trust and at a regional network level.
The post holder will be responsible for their own case load, in addition you will be required to support the wider team in the rehabilitation and management of medical patients which includes the rehabilitation of a small number of repatriated trauma and orthopaedic and general medicine patients.
Due to service provision being 7 days, the post holder is expected to support a weekend roster as well as contribute to the on-call roster, training will be provided.

* Providing clinical assessment and rehabilitation support for surgical and medical patients.
* Leading clinical developments and research opportunities.
* Managing a caseload of complex patients.
* Contributing to weekend and on-call services.
* Supporting junior therapists and students.
Qualifications
Essential
* Diploma / degree in physiotherapy.
* Current registration with Health Professions Council.
* A levels or equivalent qualification.
* Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above.
* Evidence of CPD including recent post graduate training relevant to clinical speciality.
Desirable
* Evidence of leadership training.
* Attendance at Clinical Educators Course.
Experience
Essential
* Demonstrates comprehensive clinical experience enabling the post holder to manage a caseload of patients with complex needs in this speciality.
* Minimum 12 months post-registration experience, providing a broad range of experience, must include respiratory.
* Experience of working on a physiotherapy on-call service.
* Experience of supporting and supervision of junior therapists, student physiotherapists and assistants.
* Good understanding of working in the community.
Desirable
* Team/service development.
* Evidence of audit / R&D activity.

* Highly developed physical skills including dexterity, co-ordination & sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* IT skills - computer literate in email, Word & PowerPoint.
