Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Location: Birmingham Hours: Full Time Salary: £99, 532 - £131, 964 pro rata p/annum We are seeking two Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join a comprehensive mental health service to the culturally and socially diverse population of 1.2 million spread over 172 square miles. The Trust is one of the largest and progressive mental health foundation trusts in the country. You will be joining an emotional wellbeing and mental health service for those aged 0-19 years. The Trust also collaborate with Barnardo's and Autism West Midlands. Key responsibilities for the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist role: Clinical assessment and treatment of newly referred outpatients up to their eighteenth birthday and continuity of care of patients within the service up to their nineteenth birthday. Caseload covering patients from GP surgeries predominantly in the South of the Borough within Solihull CCG. Develop risk assessment and management plans in conjunction with the Multidisciplinary team, service user, carers and other involved agencies and facilitate maximum empowerment of the service user and carer in developing informed choice of treatment interventions. Develop and oversee the implementation of care planning through the MDT. Responsible for the prescription of appropriate treatments, including drug treatments. Involvement in the teaching of junior doctors and medical students. Proactively liaise with other mental health teams and primary care to ensure continuity of care and appropriate information sharing. Minimum requirements for the Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist are: Full GMC registration MRCPsych or equivalent Eligible for approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (1983) and Approved Clinician status. MRCPsych or equivalent. Obtained inclusion on the Specialist Register; or within six months of the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry; or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register. Training and experience in Child and Adolescent training in a higher specialist training scheme. Experience of teaching and training at an undergraduate/postgraduate level. Commitment to clinical audit within multi-disciplinary team. Evidence of potential for effective leadership. Excellent communication skills. Ability to work creatively within multi-disciplinary team. Demonstrable interest in the provision of gender sensitive mental health service. Willingness to be involved in management of service. Able to travel.
