United Learning is a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England. United Learning schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. The subject specialists, Group-wide intranet, own curriculum, and online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance. As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’. We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit, and we are open to discussing flexible working options. United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check. Here at United Learning, we are committed to ensuring our employees feel valued and appreciated. Because we are a group, we can reward you better than any school could alone, and this includes your employee benefits. is some information about the benefits available to United Learning.

About the School:
Seahaven Academy is an enormously proud community, with big ambitions and high expectations for all our students (and staff).
Our most recent inspection confirmed we are a ‘Good school’ in all areas however we are unapologetically ambitious for every child, no matter what their background, prior attainment or needs and we will not rest until we deliver the outstanding school the community and most importantly, the students we serve, deserve. We provide all our young people with the challenge and support they need to achieve their goals and enable them to lead happy and purposeful lives. We strongly believe in ‘Education with Character’ and want our young people to look back on their time at Seahaven as an education which has inspired and rewarded them and prepared them for all aspects of adult life.
The strength of relationships between students and staff is second to none; we know that we make a genuine difference to the students’ lives. Add to this a vibrant atmosphere, a stunning cliff-top location and excellent facilities and I am confident you will want to join us as a Senior Leader on this exciting stage of our journey.
Visits to the school are welcomed. Please contact HR at for an appointment.
The Role:
Seahaven Academy is growing and is under new leadership. We feel that this is the perfect time to expand the leadership team and we are delighted to be able to offer a position of Assistant Principal.
We are looking for an exceptional, highly self-motivated, and resourceful Assistant Principal. You must be an excellent classroom practitioner, with proven leadership skills and the ability to lead significant areas of school improvement. You must be able to think strategically and proactively, having a strong focus on problem solving. You must see a challenge as an opportunity, and ensure plans become impactful actions. You must be inspired by working with students who need and deserve the absolute best from their school.
We want to appoint the strongest candidate and will therefore welcome applicants from any subject specialism. The Leadership team at Seahaven is both strong and ambitious and the person appointed to this role is more important than any specific responsibilities or tasks the candidate may have in their existing post.
Specific responsibilities will be finalised once the successful candidate is appointed, however, being able to demonstrate how you have had an impact on the lives of young people either by improving outcomes or enhancing the Education with Character agenda will place your application in a strong position.
As part of United Learning there are a wealth of resources available to you which are prepared centrally and significantly reduce workload. United Learning also provides support from subject specialists and other schools within the group.
Our staff are committed to honing their skills through coaching, Teaching and Learning communities and using evidence-based approaches to create expert lessons. We believe that ‘Knowledge is Power.’ We follow Rosenshines’ principles of instruction and ‘Teach Like a Champion’ techniques to underpin our professional development.
The successful candidate can be sure of working with a team of extremely dedicated staff in a very motivating, forward-thinking environment. The school is committed to providing exceptional CPD at all levels including programs for ECTs, recently qualified teachers and middle leaders.
