Our Celanese facility located in Spondon, Derby produces cellulose acetate film used in a variety of applications including packaging, lamination, and insulation. The film produced at Spondon is 100% compostable which makes it an attractive option for many end users given its “green” status in the market place. The Technology Leader will report directly into the Site Director and will be responsible for identifying and facilitating the Site’s Continuous Improvement Program. As such the primary objective of this role is to identify and facilitate the execution of process safety, energy efficiency, and cost savings initiatives across the Site. The successful applicant will lead the plant’s productivity program and will be responsible for identifying, and evaluating proposed productivity opportunities as well as validating the savings generated through productivity projects. In addition, this role will also assume responsibility for our newly developed digitization program, rolling out applications and opportunities via the Corporately driven Cognite platform. Work collaboratively with other Departments (Operations, Stewardship, Maintenance/Engineering, Projects, Quality) to identify and implement improvement projects across the Site. Identify opportunities that will further reduce the Site’s Process Safety Risks. Identify opportunities that will reduce operating costs through improved efficiencies or increased production. Research and develop future opportunities which will support the Business’s growth plans. Participate in the Site’s Management of Change process. Track and validate all productivity savings generated across the Site. Oversee the Site’s Digitization program, working with our third party provider to create and generate applications that drive improvements across the Site. Roll out and teach end-users how to use the applications. Track usage of the Digital tools and provide learning support where needed. Engineering Degree (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Process). A proven track record in project management within a Manufacturing Environment. High Proficiency basic computer software (ie. Microsoft Office). Strong analytical & problem solving skills, with attention to detail. Ability to handle a breadth of work items across several areas and differing timescales. Ability to handle multiple priorities and assist the business unit in prioritising work items. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organisation and influence others without authority. Understand equipment and general plant economic drivers to effectively implement optimization. Useful Skills and Experience: Experience working in an operational and/or project related role on a chemical process plant, or related engineering or heavy industry field would be preferred. Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve issues through monitoring of performance trends. Familiarity with data analysis and data visualisation tools such as Minitab, JMP or Seeq. Other IT related skills (e. Smartsheets, Tableau, VBA, etc). Prior Root Cause Analysis training. Experience of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, etc.
