About The Role:
Here in the Corporate Health and Safety Team, we’re looking for an experienced, motivated and enthusiastic person to help us support the council to deliver services in a safe, healthy and compliant way.
Join us and as a Corporate Health and Safety Advisor, you will:
* Provide expert, proportionate health and safety support and advice to help managers and staff minimise the risks faced in a vast range of council services including adult and children’s social care, schools, waste, corporate property services, parking control, leisure, libraries, countryside, registration and planning.
* Monitor accident/incident reports and carry out both routine and more complex incident investigations.
* Create, review and update health and safety guidance, policies and tools to help managers and staff deliver safe and healthy services.
* Create and deliver health and safety training sessions, briefings and workshops.
* Create and review health and safety risk assessments and safe systems of work.
* Co-ordinate, manage and lead case work, projects, programmes and risk management schemes.
* Carry out health and safety audits and inspections, providing proportionate and prioritised recommendations for actions required.
* Deal with people at all levels and across multiple sectors, within and outside the council.
We Welcome Your Application If You:
* Can demonstrate extensive experience of delivering the functions of the role above, to a diverse range of services and business functions.
* Hold the minimum of a NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent level 3 health and safety qualification).
* Have a full, valid driving licence and unrestricted access to your own vehicle during working hours, as the role will involve conducting visits across the county, sometimes at short notice.
* Can demonstrate communicating health and safety requirements and approaches in a non-technical, comprehensible and compelling way.
* Can deliver health and safety advice in a friendly and consultative way, to influence and negotiate good outcomes.
