Financial Controller - Hull - £60,000 - £65,000
An exceptional opportunity to play a key role in a fast-growing business, which has recently become PE backed and is expected to double in size in the next 3-5 years. As Financial Controller, you will be responsible for leading the finance operations of the business, ensuring strong financial controls, compliance, and reporting. You will drive financial efficiency, improve processes, lead key projects, and provide strategic insight to the wider senior management team to support decision-making. This role has rapid development potential to become Finance Director for someone who is driven to succeed and grow with the business.
Financial Controller Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting, including detailed board pack and commentary.
2. Develop, support, and lead a small finance team.
3. Budgets, forecasting, and financial planning.
4. Manage compliance with statutory reporting requirements, bank covenants, and manage the annual audit.
5. Partner with the senior leadership team, evaluate financial models, provide insight to support decision-making, and make commercial recommendations.
6. Cashflow management and forecasting.
7. Lead the implementation of a new ERP system.
8. Review and develop internal controls, reporting, processes, and procedures.
9. Oversee stock management, controls, and reporting, including implementation of an improved stock management system.
10. Support with acquisitions, due diligence, and integration of businesses into the group reporting.
11. Work closely with the Directors on financial strategy and corporate planning.
Required Skills & Experience:
1. ACCA, ACA, or CIMA Qualified with proven experience in a similar role.
2. Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience.
3. Proven ability to lead and mentor a team.
4. Knowledge of tax regulations, compliance, and audit.
5. Ability to embrace and drive change, with a continuous improvement mentality.
6. Proactive and driven individual, who wants to add value and be part of an exciting future.
7. Experience dealing with investors and board-level directors.
8. Confidence to challenge other business stakeholders and not accept the status quo.
9. Private equity, acquisition, or due diligence experience is an advantage but not essential.
