Seren Lodge Mother and Baby Unit, an exciting collaboration between NHS England and NHS Wales, is due to open in 2025 on the grounds of the Countess of Chester Health Park.
Cheshire & Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CWP) are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the Mother and Baby Unit team. We are planning for the new MDT to commence in role 3 months prior to opening to enable a robust and supportive induction to take place.
This post is part time 30 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
We are hoping to build a supportive and knowledgeable multi-disciplinary team, working on a rotational shift basis which includes day and night shifts. The posts offer the successful applicants the exciting opportunity to build a team that provides the highest quality of care for our service users. We will offer an excellent training programme and preceptorship programme.
The applicants must be able to demonstrate an understanding and application of the 6 C's in practice, these being Care; Compassion; Competence; Communication; Courage and Commitment.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Appropriate mental health related qualification or willingness to complete an apprenticeship appropriate to Occupational Therapy Assistant role
* Will work towards the appropriate mental health related NVQ level 3 once in post or equivalent experience
* Completion of or commitment to complete the Care Certificate (CWP in-house 2 day training to be completed within 3 months of start date)
Knowledge and Expertise
* Ability to communicate in a clear and professional manner
* Skills in facilitating activities or groups
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Skills in housekeeping and organisation
* Knowledge of mental health legislation and policies
Experience
* Experience working in mental health or learning disabilities, care work or working with vulnerable people
* Experience of supporting others to take part in activities
* Experience of working collaboratively i.e with colleagues, wider teams, service users etc
* Experience of working with women in the perinatal period
Personal Skills
* A positive attitude and skills in motivating others
* Enthusiastic and self-motivated
* Ability to be flexible and adaptable
* Basic computer skills
* Ability to communicate clearly to service users where there may be some barriers to misunderstanding
