Job Title: Quality Assurance Technician
Reports to: Head of Technical / Technical Manager
Hours: Monday to Friday 6:00am - 2:00pm / 5:30am - 1:30pm
The primary responsibility of the Quality Assurance Technician is to ensure that the production areas are complying with the site’s food safety management system and to ensure product traceability is accurate and live.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Ensuring the electronic production management system is being used at all times. Assist staff when problems occur by correcting or reporting to technical.
2. Conducting daily factory QA checks, ensuring accurate paperwork/electronic completion for traceability, process controls, weight & temperature controls, etc.
3. Monitoring of batch codes, goods in numbers, and product labelling.
4. Monitoring quality standards within production areas and working with production to resolve any quality issues.
5. Checking incoming raw material standards in accordance with the specifications. Ensuring that they are booked in correctly, approved suppliers are being used, and the correct trace information is applied. pH checks to be carried out on all pork & beef as required.
6. Recording and reporting back any supplier non-conformances to the technical department.
7. Stock rotation & batch card monitoring.
8. Conduct CCP metal checks and gas flush checks/audit when required.
9. Conduct CCP cooking and cooling checks as required.
10. Monitoring all area temperatures, recording and taking action where required.
11. GMP audits.
12. Conducting monthly glass and plastic audits.
13. Conducting monthly fabric audits, raising job cards and monitoring completion.
14. Conducting quarterly and half yearly tasks/audits.
15. Conducting ATP swabbing and species changeover cleaning sign-offs.
16. Work with production operators if faults are detected to help improve quality, cost optimisation, and promote a continuous improvement culture.
17. Ensure all staff and visitors are wearing correct PPE in the correct manner and following hygiene rules.
18. Sample collection for weekly laboratory testing and extra testing as required, as well as internal testing schedule.
19. Sample collections for monthly laboratory testing.
20. Downloading probes for cooking/chilling and reporting any issues.
21. Weekly hygiene audits of areas listed on the QA plan.
22. Daily calibration of all probes.
23. Weekly calibration of probes.
24. Weekly chemical checks.
25. Attend regular technical meetings.
26. Provide cover for other QAs as required.
27. Conduct extra operations/tasks set by the QA Supervisor.
28. Complete project work set by the QA Supervisor.
29. Assisting the Technical department with external audits.
30. Conducting leak detection checks.
31. Monitoring through visual inspections and also swabbing nitrite cross-contamination within the low-risk production processing areas.
32. Assisting other QAs in other areas when required.
33. Leading by example, to try and inspire and influence others to feel the same, through knowledge of food safety policies and procedures. Promoting a food safety culture at all times.

Required experience / qualifications:
* Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role within the food industry.
* Food hygiene level 2 qualification.
Desirable experience / qualifications:
* HACCP Level 2.

Pay: £12.44 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week

Experience:
* Quality assurance: 1 year (required).
Licence/Certification:
* HACCP Level 2 (preferred).
* Food Hygiene Level 2 (required).
