This is a role that will support our manufacturing site in Bournville (home of Cadburys). Successful candidates will set out on a 4-year journey that will lead to being a qualified, trained and highly skilled Engineering Technician. The apprentice will become part of a collaborative team who will help the apprentice to develop their skills on the job by sharing knowledge, experience and technical abilities, coupled with recognised qualifications and a high-performing international business.

The candidate will be trained in the theoretical and practical aspects of maintenance, relating to the processing and packaging equipment used on site.
This may include:
• Mechanical systems
• Electrical and process control systems
• PLC software applications
• Electro-mechanical design and solutions
• Electrical wiring, testing and installation
• Pneumatic systems
• Process instrumentation
Post Qualification
• You will independently operate and maintain at least one process, equipment or systems following autonomous maintenance (AM) standards and use your technical skills to improve line and/or system performance to meet business needs.
• You will be responsible for repairing and maintaining production equipment to deliver on our safety, quality, cost, delivery, sustainability and morale targets.
• Key to the site improvement journey, using integrated lean six sigma methodology, you will use your technical expertise to optimise your equipment using AM (autonomous maintenance) and PM (progressive maintenance) standards.
• Ensuring that safety processes and practices are observed, and that quality assurance activities are performed, you will understand the losses in your production area and work with the wider team to eradicate and maximise performance

Together with invaluable commercial and practical experience, you’ll work towards several academic and vocational qualification levels throughout your time with us, which are fully paid for, including:
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Foundation Competence – in year 1, in 6 week blocks to include 4 weeks at Make UK and 2 weeks in company
● Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Competence - in years 2 to 4 in company
● Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Development Knowledge - in Years 2 & 3 on block release to Make UK
● In house training in line with your requirements.
● Further qualifications deemed necessary by your employer
On completion of your studies, you will achieve your full apprenticeship certification that will prove competence as a Level 3 Engineering Technician.
