Support Worker - Children's Residential Home
Location: Redhill, Surrey
Hours: Full-time - 48 hours per week (Day shifts: 9am-9pm, including sleep-ins)
Salary: From £13.00 per hour + sleep-in payments
Contract Type: Permanent
We are recruiting an experienced and passionate Support Worker for a children's residential home in Redhill. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact in the lives of young people facing emotional and behavioural challenges. You will provide high-quality care, guidance, and support in line with Ofsted requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support children and young people in their daily routines, including education, shopping, meal prep, budgeting, and building independent life skills
* Provide emotional and practical support, adapting communication styles to individual needs
* Support and monitor health care requirements, including medication administration and temperature checks
* Accompany young people to appointments and recreational activities in the community
* Collaborate with external professionals such as social workers, therapists, and education providers
* Maintain clear and accurate records, including daily logs, weekly reports, and safeguarding documentation
* Take part in key working sessions and ensure a consistent, person-centred approach to care
* Attend team meetings, training sessions, supervision, and appraisals
* Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed at all times
* Promote a positive and nurturing environment that supports each young person's development and well-being
What We're Looking For:
* Previous experience working in a residential children's home, particularly with young people with behavioural and emotional difficulties
* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
* Understanding of person-centred care planning
* Ability to work independently and use initiative, while knowing when to seek guidance
* Flexible and reliable, with a commitment to working a full-time rota including sleep-in shifts
* Resilience, empathy, and a professional attitude
* Willingness to undergo training and professional development, including completing a Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare (if not already held)
* Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check
