Plant Oxford is the birthplace and heart of MINI production. Manufactured to individual customer specifications, hundreds of MINIs leave the plant’s assembly lines each day, off to meet new owners in more than 110 countries around the world. Three UK plants have a part to play in MINI production – Plant Hams Hall makes engines, Plant Swindon produces body pressings and sub-assemblies for MINI, and all this comes together at Plant Oxford with body shell production, paint and final.
MINI Plant, Oxford – IT Plant Services and Integration - 13 Month Placement (July 2025)
As a member of the IT Services Team responsible for BMW plants Oxford and Swindon, your primary responsibilities would involve operations management and support of the various IT applications that are critical to the plant's operations.
IT Services and Integration team members play a crucial role in supporting IT operations, enhancing productivity, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.
What awaits you?
1. Responding to and resolving any incidents or problems that arise with the IT applications, including coordinating with cross-functional teams, such as plant operations and IT infrastructure, to ensure timely and effective resolutions.
2. Facilitating the planning, testing, and deployment of changes or updates to the IT applications, ensuring minimal disruption to the plant's operations, and maintaining the integrity of the application environment.
3. Generating reports and analyzing data related to the IT applications' performance, usage, and compliance, providing insights to management and stakeholders to support decision-making.
4. Actively participating in cross-functional teams and knowledge-sharing initiatives to foster a collaborative environment, share best practices, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the IT services.
5. Ensuring that the IT applications comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and the organization's security policies, and implementing measures to protect the plant's data and systems from cyber threats.
Qualifications and Experience
6. Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related field.
7. Proficiency in the use of common IT applications and tools, such as office productivity suites, project management software, and ticketing systems.
8. Familiarity with programming languages, databases, and scripting tools used in the enterprise IT environments.
9. SQL skills for querying, manipulating, and analysing data from databases.
10. Proficiency in generating reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to support decision-making.
11. Understanding of IT infrastructure components, including servers, networks, and cloud-based services.
12. Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities to diagnose and resolve IT-related issues.
13. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide user support.
14. Customer-centric mindset and a commitment to providing high-quality IT services.
